Creativity, thy name is Woman!

What could be more creative than being able to grow another human being under your heart? We know the commitment it takes to spend nine months on a creative project and then have an intense push at the final deadline (no pun intended).

But do we harness that creativity to make our homes more efficient, our financial status more secure, or our relationships deeper? At Purposeful Home you’ll learn to draw from the wells of creative living to refresh these areas of your life and more.

Clarity + Consistency + Creativity = C3

Consistency is the opposite of Chaos

Chaos is the arch-enemy of the Purposeful Home. Consistency makes you a Wonder Woman who assigns responsibilities, schedules meals, sets boundaries and negotiates budgets. Awaken your inner Wonder Woman of consistency in these areas:

Parenting: Stabilize your parent-child relationships with guidelines that are clear, concise and consistent.

Housekeeping: Work a consistent plan to spare your family confusion and grant you more time to relax in fresh, clutter-free surroundings.

Personal effectiveness: Establish goals, priorities and dreams, then evaluate regularly to see your progress.

Q: My Wonder Woman is sound asleep and my home is in chaos. How do I wake her up and turn this mess around?

A: Give your inner Wonder Woman a good shake and a quick refresher course on organizing your home at Purposeful Home. A cup of coffee with a friend or two couldn’t hurt either, while discussing our Schedule or Get It Done charts. Choose the one you like best, and get started. Check back with your girlfriends for more encouragement in a week or two. Stay upbeat in spite of challenges – you can do it, Wonder Woman!

Q. My housekeeping is going along okay, but my kids are creating chaos by whining and quarrelling. Is consistency the cure?

A. Absolutely! Get your Wonder Woman to pull out her boundary marker. Create limits for the kids’ communications, at the same time promoting more understanding of each other’s rights. Here are a few anti-whine phrases (use them consistently):
“My ears can’t hear a whiney voice, talk in a plain voice.”
“I’ll help you when you ask politely; say please.”
“I realize you need _________. I’ll take care of it as soon as I can.” (use sparingly; the quickest way to quiet the whining is to observe and serve genuine needs as speedily as possible).

Does Wonder Woman have an anti-quarrelling device in her utility belt? You bet – it’s a two-sided tool that combines consistency with creativity. Try these ideas and come up with more of your own:
“No quarrelling. Let’s be creative and find a way to share/take turns/make it work.”
“We don’t use swear words in this house.”
“No yelling or hitting. We communicate with words in this house.”
“Its time you two moved on to different activities in different places. You both need space. You can come back to this later when you’re refreshed.”
Running around outside also helps kids release frustration and anger. Just don’t send them all out together to clobber each other where you’re not watching!

Q: I have so many plans, goal and dreams, but it’s all a jumble that clouds my vision. I don’t seem to be able to consistently work my ideas into reality. Help!

A. A chaotic inner life is stressful, whether from an abundance of creative plans or from painful experiences. Begin to sort through your goals by putting them down on paper or on a computer project management system. Once you have all your ideas in front of you, begin to classify them according to areas of interest, length of time to accomplish, cost, and other categories that seem relevant. Just having them all out in front of you should bring some relief to the inner overload. Now sift through and select two or three to begin to fit into your schedule right away, delegating some others to a three month starting point, and others to six months out. After this planning exercise is over, begin to consistently work on the two or three you selected for immediate implementation. Evaluate your progress every two weeks, with a friend, if possible (it really helps to have a soul-mate who honors your commitment to your projects). Two years from now you’ll be able to look back and see a trail of accomplishment instead of a blur of turmoil.

Consistency is your secret weapon against the chaos that naturally tends to happen. Wake up your Wonder Woman and begin to take charge of your Purposeful Home.

Can you get Clarity from a computer screen?

Clarity energizes. Without it, we waffle along, confused and uncertain; struggling. When the clear vision of certainty dawns, we wake up to the purpose, the priorities and the spiritual depths of our life.

Think of it this way: the page you are reading is run by computer code, written by the developers of this website. You can see the page because your screen, CPU and programs are clearly interpreting the code and following its pattern. All the elements in front of you must properly interpret and display the instructions of the code for you to use this site. What if your screen went black? This website would still be here, you just wouldn’t be able to see it. What if your CPU shorted out? The screen would have no ability to display without the CPU. What if your web surfing program malfunctioned and wouldn’t go to the site (like mine did today – I just returned from dropping a comment in the support discussion box). Many snags could be happening on your end to keep you from viewing the site – yet the site itself is fully operational.

It’s like that with our creator in heaven, who has a purposeful life pattern ready to guide you into fulfillment. Problem is, we’re all born with a serious malfunction in our CPU/screen/software, so our screen isn’t showing the message. We’re not connected with him. Instead, we are wandering, some are searching, but all are lost and crave the connection that will bring us clarity.

Like Microsoft, God has a support discussion box, known as prayer. Tell him how much you long for clarity and connection with him. Ask him to reveal the pattern and purpose he had in mind when he created you. Then follow up by checking out our Clear Vision spiritual growth system. We’ll walk beside you and share what we’ve gained by understanding God’s purpose.

Challenges of clarity in other areas, such as relationships, careers, finances and home organization are opportunities to exert our creativity and enjoy our common bond. Dip into our tools and share your favorite ideas. Ask your friends to join the discussion – its all about connecting!

Stay with us at Purposeful Home on the journey to total clarity.

Clarity + Consistency + Creativity = C3

Clarity blows away the fog of confusion and focuses our energy.

Consistency regulates the pattern of our lives and smoothes out the rough patches.

Creativity unleashes the inner spirit to apply new solutions and design fresh techniques.

Clarity, consistency and creativity are the C3 of the purposeful home. Simple concepts; when practiced, they increase our joy and effectiveness. When we are missing the C3, we fall into the clutter of confused drudgery – and it can have dire consequences for family and personal happiness.

Here at Purposeful Home we can guide you around the pitfalls and point you along the C3 path. Walk with us on the C3 journey and share your insights and solutions. We’d like to “meet you at the monitor” over coffee as we enjoy cultivating the C3 home.

My home has a purpose??

“We do not know what to do with this short life,
but we want another that will be eternal.”
Anatole France

Every wonder if your home has a purpose in the grand scheme of the universe? Even though Darwin didn’t give much credit to maternal effort -- his “survival of the fittest” neglects to notice that its the diligence of mammal mommies that allows our species to survive at all – we know that our little ones would never make it without our loving care.

Give yourself credit: birthing and caring for the young ones, organizing and cleaning your home, buying and cooking food, keeping everyone clothed, healthy and happy is not an insignificant job.

Kudos to all the unrecognized women who run the world from the background (like the code running this web page; you can’t see it, and don’t even think about it, but without it, you wouldn’t be able to read this right now).

Purposeful Home is a place to be inspired, encouraged, educated and rewarded for your efforts. Stop by often to see what your friends are up to!

Please drop a comment telling us how many are in your household and how long you’ve been running it -- so we can applaud your efforts.

Be happy … be well … be blessed
