Beautiful Days in an Economic Crisis

Need a beautiful day to lift you out of the bad news?  Here are four suggestions.

1)  Honor the spring of the year by planting something.  Choose colorful flowers for a sidewalk border, long-lasting shrubs, or vegetables you can enjoy later on the table.  Make it a family time to enjoy the beauty of the earth in the renewal season of spring.

2)  Listen to joyful, uplifting music.  Whether you relax with jazz, classical, love songs or polka, take time to be refreshed with the music of your choice.  Avoid any music that makes you sad or angry.  Celebrate with music – it’s still free on the radio!

3)  Visit your local library and check out only Art books.  Color stimulates the endorphins in the brain that relax and refresh us. Try books on several artists from various periods and styles of art for the most diversity.  Then sit at home – in your garden if it’s warm and sunny – with a cup of tea while you enjoy the creativity of your fellowman.

4)  Dawn or Dusk, enjoy the painted sky.  Choose to spend ten minutes or more watching the sun come or go.  You’ll find a renewed perspective on life and feel more grounded in reality.
